Ignorando que os Mosqueteiros do Rei, em virtude de uma manobra política que visa obter o trono da França, não mais existem, o jovem D'Artagnan (Chris O'Donnell) planeja tornar-se um mosqueteiro. Em sua aventura conhece Athos (Kiefer Sutherland), Aramis (Charlie Sheen) e Porthos (Oliver Platt), leais ao monarca, e juntos acabam descobrindo um plano do cardeal Richelieu (Tim Curry) para matar a realeza francesa.
