Anjelica Huston protagoniza esta fantasia baseada no livro de Roald Dahl sobre um menino e sua doce avó que arruínam uma convenção de bruxas que desejam livrar a Inglaterra de crianças ao transformá-las em ratos. De férias no hotel à beira-mar com sua avó, o menino fica sabendo que a convenção de bruxas também está se hospedando lá e descobre os planos malvados de sua Grand High Witch (Huston). Jim Henson criou os efeitos de criatura em seu último filme.
