Baseada no provocante romance de Alicia Erian, Tabu narra a história de superação de Jasira, uma garota de 13 anos, entrando na adolescência. Durante a guerra do Iraque, ela vive com a sua mãe americana e o futuro padrasto, que está encantado com a crescente maturidade da garota. Por isso, sua mãe a envia para o Texas com seu rígido pai Libanês. Este trata de educá-la nos valores tradicionais da cultura mulçumana. Entretanto, Jasira segue sem saber muito bem o que fazer com sua sexualidade quando nota que seu corpo afeta os homens que a rodeiam, em especial seu vizinho, um atraente intolerante soldado da marinha. Towelhead, no inglês, (alternativamente intitulado Nothing Is Private ) é um filme de drama americano de 2007 escrito e dirigido por Alan Ball e baseado no romance homônimo de Alicia Erian . O filme fez sua estreia mundial no Festival Internacional de Cinema de Toronto em 8 de setembro de 2007 sob o nome Nothing Is Private .
