Abrindo sua casa, ela o ajuda a arranjar um emprego e um espaço para usar o seu talento musical no coral da igreja regido por Charles, mostrando-lhe que Deus pode cuidar dos seus problemas. Lilly, a neta de Memaw, desenvolve uma amizade muito especial com Tommy. As mudanças no comportamento dele causam um grande impacto em sua amizade com G. Smooth, um pequeno traficante.
