No começo do século 17 a Manchúria ocupa a China e estabelece a dinastia Ching. Para evitar revoltas nacionalistas, o governo proíbe as artes marciais. Firewind, um militar da dinastia antiga, é incumbido de implementar a nova lei e ataca com brutalidade as cidades pelas quais passa. Tentando acabar com essa violência, o veterano Fu Qing Ju, tenta impedir Firewind de chegar à Cidade Marcial e pede a ajuda de Wu Yuan Yin e Han Zhi Ban. Juntos, eles vão ao Monte Paraíso em busca do mestre Shadow-Glow, que lhes dará ensinamentos de espada e convencerá quatro de seus discípulos a juntarem-se aos heróis na luta contra os manchurianos.
