Ray Waller é um ex-jogador da liga principal de beisebol que foi forçado a se aposentar precocemente em função de uma doença degenerativa. Ele muda para uma nova casa com sua preocupada esposa Eve, a filha adolescente Izzy e o filho Elliot. Ray, que no fundo ainda espera, contra todas as probabilidades, voltar à liga profissional, convence Eve de que a cintilante piscina do quintal da nova casa pode ser uma diversão para as crianças e uma ótima alternativa para as sessões de fisioterapia dele. Mas um segredo sombrio do passado da casa vai desencadear uma força malévola que levará a família ao terror mais profundo e inevitável.
