A famosa flapper Colleen Moore interpreta Ella Cinders, uma espécie de Cinderela moderna, escravizada por suas irmãs e sua madrasta. Após ganhar um concurso de beleza em sua cidade natal, Ella tem a oportunidade mudar de vida, indo para Hollywood assinar contrato para trabalhar em um estúdio, como parte do prêmio. Ao chegar na cidade do cinema, Ella descobre que o tal concurso era falso, e que havia sido enganada. Agora, Ella luta para conseguir um lugar nos filmes, mesmo que isso não seja tão fácil como imaginava.
