Chris Vaughn é um soldado aposentado das Forças Especiais do exército americano, que retorna para sua cidade natal com a intenção de reatar antigos laços e iniciar uma nova vida. Porém a cidade em que ele nasceu não é mais a mesma, sendo agora um local controlado pelo crime. Jay Hamilton, seu rival dos tempos de colégio, fechou a serraria que possuía e é agora o chefe dos negócios criminosos do local. Decidido a reverter a situação, Chris é eleito xerife da cidade e busca a ajuda de seu velho amigo Ray, prometendo acabar com os negócios de Jay. Suas ações colocam em perigo sua própria família, mas Chris não está disposto a aceitar intimidações e pretende fazer com que a cidade retorne à calmaria de quando era jovem.
