No fim da Dinastia Chinesa, um clã mortal de 200 anos de existência, conhecido como Sociedade de Garra da Águia, consegue eliminar todos os estilos de artes-marciais, exceto o honorável Punho de Serpente, o que faz com que o Grande Mestre da Garra de Águia se torne obcecado em encontrar e matar os membros remanescentes desta escola. Enquanto isso, o velho e sábio Grande Mestre do Punho de Serpente está ocupado em esconder e ensinar um jovem criado (Jackie Chan) seus intimidantes e ágeis movimentos.
