Tom Witzky (Kevin Bacon) é um pacato chefe de família, pai de um menino e marido dedicado, que passa seus momentos de lazer com seus amigos do bairro. Certo dia, em uma festinha, ele aceita ser hipnotizado pela cunhada Isa (Illeana Douglas). O que deveria ser uma simples brincadeira acaba fazendo com que Tom seja assombrado por estranhas visões.
