No ano de 221 a.C, o primeiro imperador da China Qin Shihuang começou a construção de sua tumba real. No mausoléu, foram enterrados o imperador, centenas de milhares de pessoas que trabalharam na construção, um tesouro e, diz a lenda, o elixir da juventude. Nos dias de hoje, o arqueólogo Jack (Jackie Chan) e o cientista William (Tony Leung Ka Fai) encontram em Dasar, na Índia, uma antiga espada da dinastia Qin, e uma pedra mágica que desafia a força da gravidade. Os objetos podem levá-los ao mítico mausoléu e conectar Jack e seus recorrentes sonhos a uma surpreendente vida passada.
