Manny e Buck são dois fugitivos de um presídio de segurança máxima que fica numa região desolada do Alasca. Depois de sobreviverem à travessia pela planície coberta de neve, eles chegam a uma estação e se escondem no vagão de um trem de carga. Mas o maquinista é fulminado por um ataque cardíaco após colocar o veículo em movimento, deixando os dois presidiários desesperados a bordo do trem desgovernado e em alta velocidade.
