Antony Campion, um jovem pastor prestes a assumir uma paróquia na Austrália, e sua esposa recebem uma delicada missão da igreja. Eles precisam convencer o pintor Norman Lindsay a retirar o polêmico quadro "Vênus Crucificada" de sua exposição. O religioso e a mulher se hospedam na casa do artista que tem um jeito completamente liberal de viver e está sempre na companhia de três belíssima modelos que posam para ele. Em missão, o recatado casal acaba contagiado pelo excêntico modo de vida do anfitrião.
