Buscando uma maneira de retornar a Roma, Júlio César (Klaus Maria Brandauer) propõe aos druidas que abasteçam os romanos, em troca da expulsão dos alemães da Galícia. Ao saber que Celtill, chefe do povo Arvern, está reunindo todos os chefes gauleses, César ordena que a conspiração seja aniquilada. Na reunião Celtill revela que o encontro tem por objetivo eleger um rei para a Galícia, que comandaria todas as tribos. Ele se candidata, mas é traído por seu próprio irmão. Seu filho Vercingétorix (Christopher Lambert), tenta salvá-lo, mas presencia sua execução. A partir de então ele passa a ter por objetivo vingar a morte de seu pai, sendo acolhido numa escola druida, onde aprende o uso das armas e os segredos da magia.
