Michael, um veterano psiquiatra, incendeia o estábulo de uma mãe com um filho adolescente mentalmente instável, culpando-o pelo incidente. Obcecado em aplicar seu experimento bem-sucedido, anteriormente testado apenas em cadáveres, ao adolescente como seu primeiro sujeito vivo, Michael enfrenta uma batalha moral interna. Após ser contatado pela mãe, inicia um sutil jogo de manipulação para obter a autorização médica necessária. À medida que o jovem descobre gravações secretas dos experimentos, Michael luta para manter a compostura diante da crescente desconfiança da mãe e da resistência do adolescente, tentando ocultar sua crescente obsessão.
