O lago Negro foi transformado numa espécie de santuário para os crocodilos, rodeado por uma cerca elétrica para proteger os incautos que cheguem ao local. Lá eles se multiplicam em número recorde. Justamente na noite em que uma cerca é deixada aberta, a equipe de natação de uma escola pega o caminho errado e vai parar no local. Além de terem que lidar com o terror trazido pelos animais, os jovens ainda encaram uma policial desonesta (Yancy Butler) e um caçador ilegal (Robert Englund).
