Chinatown, São Francisco, 1900. A filha de um congressista que odeia imigrantes asiáticos é assassinada e o principal suspeito é o filho de Bai Xuanling, homem de grande influência no bairro chinês. O crime revolta e joga a população da cidade contra os chineses, exigindo o fechamento do distrito. Para tentar salvar o filho e evitar a perseguição a seu povo, Bai Xuanling recorre ao jovem “mestre do raciocínio” Qin Fu, que se associa a Ah Gui, homem que chegou à cidade para vingar seu pai adotivo. Juntos, os dois tentam descobrir o que realmente aconteceu.
