O filme se passa no semiárido pernambucano, ao longo das margens do rio, onde vivem - há muitas gerações - centenas de poetas e artistas populares, que compõem um bioma cultural único. Por lá, a poesia é algo tão forte e presente no cotidiano, que é ensinada em salas de aula e declamada durante as missas. Conduzido pelo jovem poeta Antônio Marinho, herdeiro das tradições poéticas da região do Pajeú, o espectador viaja por 12 cidades e encontra memórias afetivas, orais e textuais dos artistas que já se foram e vê o talento das novas gerações se revelando. O roteiro também é assinado por Alexandre Alencar, junto com Aquiles Lopes e Lula Queiroga - que também compôs a trilha sonora. A produção executiva é de Danielle Hoover, da Luni Produções, viabilizada pelo Curta! através do Fundo Setorial do Audiovisual.
