Itaca dá continuidade à pesquisa de linguagem da diretora (que em janeiro deste ano foi premiada pela Bienal de Veneza, com o Leão de Ouro pela sua trajetória artística), entre o teatro e o cinema, entre o ficcional e o documental, entre o passado e presente. Trazendo, a partir da ficção histórica de Homero, uma lente de aumento sobre os dias de hoje, sobre as guerras, os movimentos de partida e de chegada, a tentativa de chegar em casa concreta e metaforicamente. Para a construção dramatúrgica foram realizadas entrevistas com refugiados, além de um período de trabalho com os atores para gerar cenas através de improvisos. Em seguida, durante um mês, Christiane Jatahy escreveu a dramaturgia final do texto. No elenco de Itaca estão as atrizes Isabel Teixeira (que ficou nacionalmente conhecida como a Maria Bruaca da novela Pantanal), Julia Bernart e Stella Rabello e os atores Cédric Eeckout, Karim Bel Kacem e Matthieu Sampeur.
