A embaixada da Argentina no Chile é um dos poucos lugares seguros durante o golpe militar de 1973. É lá que, Pedro, doze anos e Ana, onze, se conhecem. Ambos são filhos de brasileiros exilados em Santiago e desde pequenos se acostumaram às situações de improviso que a militância dos pais exige. Dentro da Embaixada, todos esperam o visto de saída para outro país. Os adultos vivem ao ritmo de reuniões políticas, racionam e dividem comida, roupa, espaço. Para Pedro e Ana, a embaixada é um parênteses no tempo, no qual experimentam uma rara liberdade e a emoção do primeiro amor.
