Ali Babá (Renato Aragão) não quer saber de trabalhar e vive de sombra e água fresca. Ele fila refeições na casa do irmão Cassim (Dedé Santana), até o dia em que a cunhada decide colocá-lo para fora de casa. Ele, então, conhece Rosinha (Elza de Castro), que ficou paralítica depois de um acidente no trapézio do modesto circo de seu pai. Apaixonado, ele se empenha em conseguir dinheiro para uma cirurgia. É quando descobre um depósito de mercadorias escondidas por 40 ladrões, que contém cigarros estrangeiros, uísque, aparelhos de rádio e televisão e muito dinheiro falso.
