Quando o bem educado Martin Harvey descobre que herdou um iate antigo, ele decide levar sua família de férias para o Caribe para recuperar o navio. Ao chegar em uma pequena ilha e perceber que o navio está em péssima forma, Martin e sua família acabam com mais do que esperavam quando o malandro Capitão Ron aceita navegar o barco para Miami. Porém não demora muito para Ron colocar os Harvey em muitas dificuldades.
