Quando Alice (Jennifer Love Hewitt) recebe um cartão romântico anônimo de Dia dos Namorados, acha que é uma brincadeira de seu marido, Sam (Jimi Mistry), e responde com outro cartão, também anônimo. Só que ele esconde esse fato, e ela passa a desconfiar de sua fidelidade. Com a ajuda de sua irmã, a moça resolve criar a personalidade de uma mulher para seduzir Sam e comprovar suas suspeitas. Enquanto isso, o melhor amigo do casal (Dougray Scott) declara estar apaixonado por ela.
