A vida de William Wiberforce (Ioan Gruffudd) mostra como a perseverança e a fé de um homem mudaram o mundo. Líder do movimento abolicionista britânico, o filme mostra a luta épica para criar uma lei com objetivo de acabar com o tráico negreiro. Durante esta jornada, Wilberforce encontra oposição intensa dos que acreditavam que a escravidão estava diretamente ligada à estabilidade do império britânico.
