Ozzie (Steven Kynman) é um jovem coala que vive na Austrália. Ele é sequestrado por dois capangas, Buzz Maroni (Peter Rowley) e Tank Emerson (Ralf Moeller), que trabalham para Max Happy (Dame Joan Collins), presidente da Happy Toys. A lenda diz que Ozzie fala e Max quer clonar Ozzie em centenas de coalas e vendê-los por uma fortuna como animais de estimação falantes. Buzz e Tank perdem Ozzie na viagem de avião para casa por acidente para Justin Morton (Spencer Breslin), um menino de oito anos que está comemorando seu aniversário com sua mãe, Beth (Rachel Hunter), em uma viagem para a Austrália. Ozzie acaba na mochila de Justin. Quando Max descobre que o coala está desaparecido, uma perseguição maluca começa.
