O viúvo Coronel Dr. Khurana, é o dono de um sanatório particular e pai de Tanvi, umas das médicas do hospital. Tanvi, cuida da paciente nº 36, uma mulher chamada Shobhna Mathur, com muito carinho, quase como uma mãe. Passado um tempo, Shobhna, recebe alta, mas é incapaz de se lembrar dos carinhos de Tanvi. Isso abala Tanvi, fazendo com que ela decida manter distância afetiva de qualquer outro paciente, especialmente o novo paciente n º 36, que foi admitido por uma ordem judicial. Circunstâncias fazem Tanvi e Anand, se aproximarem, de tal modo que eles se apaixonam, mas o pai de Tanvi, com seu jeito disciplinador escolheu um pretendente para ela e não está disposto a assumir o risco de Tanvi, se casar com um doente mental, especialmente um como Anand, que foi preso e acusado de matar sua noiva.
