Para tentar evitar um assalto em Londres, o policial Tom Campbell, por engano, termina dentro da TARDIS, uma máquina de viajem no tempo e espaço criada pelo Dr. Who. Dr.Who, sua filha, neta e Campbell viajam para o futuro e chegam no ano de 2150, encontrando Londres e o mundo inteiro destruídos. Quando começam a investigar, se encontram com alguns sobreviventes, que lhes dizem que a raça alienígena Daleks tomaram conta da Terra e tem planos para mover o planeta inteiro para sua terra natal, onde eles pilharão os seus recursos naturais. Dr. Who vai agora liderar a resistência para impedir que os Daleks tenham êxito em sua missão.
