O ex-condenado Armstrong Cane (Ving Rhames) retorna ao bairro em que morava, como um homem mudado, que quer assumir a velha igreja e congregação de seu pai. Mas a vizinhança está tomada por drogas e gangues. Os que conseguem, mudam-se para áreas mais prósperas e passam a seguir um esperto pastor (Ricardo Chavira). Mas mesmo com um perigoso chefe de gangue (Dean McDermott) ameaçando seu rebanho, Armstrong não desiste. Fortemente decidido, Armstrong prega a palavra de Deus a quem quiser ouvir, especialmente a Norris, um jovem prestes a cair numa vida de más opções. Eles mantêm uma ligação próxima e se esforçam para mudar, mas será que os pecados do passado voltarão para assombrá-los?
