Após a morte do marido, um milionário, a viúva se mostrou uma ótima mãe para os filhos, Maximilian (Henry Silva) e Rupert (Robert Hutton), que eram tratados com todos os mimos. Porém seu enteado, Cinderelo (Jerry Lewis), era tratado como um empregado, trabalhando incansavelmente o dia inteiro nas mais variadas tarefas. Até que um dia, enquanto limpava a piscina, surge diante de Cinderelo seu fada-padrinho (Ed Wynn), que veio para ajudar o enteado, principalmente agora que a princesa Charming (Anna Maria Alberghetti), do grão-ducado da Morovia, chegou na cidade. A princesa deseja escolher um marido e o eleito será alguém de muita sorte, pois além de muito rica ela também é bonita.
