Einar é um fazendeiro alcoólatra em recuperação que vive com seu fiel amigo Mitch. Ele recebe a visita inesperada da nora Jean e da neta Griff. Einar mantém um rancor contra Jean porque acha que ela é responsável pela morte de seu filho. Apesar de relutante, ele permite que Jean fique em sua fazenda ao descobrir que ela está em um relacionamento violento. Com o tempo, eles aproximam-se e tentam curar suas feridas emocionais.
