O que aconteceria se a cabeleira de Sansão fosse uma peruca? Você vai saber vendo a história do barbeiro Horácio (Oscarito), que depois de sofrer um insólito acidente vai parar no Reino de Gaza, muitos anos antes de Cristo. Lá ele conhece Sansão (Wilson Viana) cuja força descomunal vinha de uma "milagrosa" peruca. Ao trocar a tal peruca de Sansão por um isqueiro, Horácio transforma-se num homem forte e poderoso, passando a reinar em Gaza como um ditador bonachão. A partir daí, nosso herói se mete em muitas trapalhadas, numa das comédias mais inteligentes do cinema brasileiro. Paródia ao filme homônimo de Cecil B. de Mille, "Sansão e Dalila", de inspiração bíblica, o filme é uma crítica ao autoritarismo e ao populismo político, de Getúlio Vargas, que, no ano anterior ao das filmagens, era presidente do Brasil o "populista".
