Janete, outrora uma grande vedete, ainda acredita ter fama e beleza. Apaixona-se por Paulo, autor de revistas, e pensa que pode interpretar sua nova peça. Ninguém quer contrariá-la, mas Janete descobre o equívoco, cai de uma escada e exige a namorada de Paulo como substituta.
