Allison, uma jovem mulher, que ajuda um padre numa igreja, descobre a existência de um livro, o Léxico, que contém textos secretos da Bíblia até hoje não publicados. Agora ela é a guardiã da fé da humanidade e começa a ser perseguida por um estranho ser que muda de corpo, sem antes mutilar. Allison é guiada por mensagens de uma voz que tenta ajudá-la a se livrar do perigo. Ao mesmo tempo um policial da Interpol passa a acompanhar outro tira na investigação de um serial killer que arranca o coração de suas vítimas. Na Terra, o bem e o mal vão se encontrar numa horripilante batalha, que pode mudar o destino dos homens.
