Reed Richards (Ioan Gruffudd) e Susan Storm (Jessica Alba) estão prestes a se casar. Porém, durante a cerimônia, algo estranho surge nos céus de Nova York. Trata-se do Surfista Prateado (Doug Jones), um ser alienígena que possui grandes poderes e que trabalha como arauto de Galactus, o destruidor de planetas. O Surfista veio à Terra para prepará-la para ser destruída por seu mestre, mas para atingir seu objetivo precisará enfrentar o Quarteto Fantástico.
