Em Pianetta não tem médico, até a chegada do Dr. Marchetti. Na cidade, no entanto, um "médico" já está instalado, Don Antonio, o curandeiro local que com um pouco de psicologia, poções mágicas e truques, é muito apreciado, principalmente por Mafalda, que espera seu noivo Corrado, que não escreve mais desde 1942. Até que Pasqua, assistente do médico, usa uma poção mágica e ela se apaixona por ele. Entre Don Antonio e o Dr. Marchetti começou um tipo de guerra à distância na qual todos estão envolvidos, incluindo Clamide, sobrinha de Don Antonio, flertando com Galeazzo.
