Kurapika se tornou um Hunter para se vingar do grupo criminoso de classe A chamado “Genei Ryodan” que massacrou seu clã por causa de seus olhos especiais. Os olhos do clã Kuruta se tornam escarlates em momentos de raiva ou fortes emoções, e são considerados os tesouros mais belos no mundo. Kurapika continua a perseguir o Genei Ryodan, mas um grupo desconhecido roubou seus olhos escarlates. Com a ajuda de Gon, Killua e Leorio, a vida de Kurapika é salva. No entanto, o Genei Ryodan aparece diante deles e impede seu caminho. A verdadeira identidade do membro com a tatuagem de aranha número 4 está prestes a ser revelada.
