Ela confundia a todos. A primeira impressão logo se desvanecia e quem se aproximava se surpreendia. Não se sabe se o fazia por 'boniteza ou por precisão', como dizia Guimarães Rosa. Mas a verdade é que os estereótipos desmoronavam quando ela acolhia os seus eleitos. E as revelações se sucediam. Atrás daquela voz suavemente aguda e afinada se escondiam tons graves que poucos conseguiam atingir. Atrás da origem humilde, uma sensibilidade e uma inteligência incomuns. A técnica irrepreensível era outro disfarce: Elis era pura emoção. E cantar não era o objetivo final, ela queria mesmo era fazer as pessoas felizes. Mas foi Rita Lee quem desmoralizou o clichê recorrente, a Pimentinha era na verdade uma doce figura.
