Cinebiografia de Irmã Dulce (Bianca Comparato/Regina Braga), que, em vida, foi chamada de “Anjo Bom da Bahia”, também indicada ao Nobel da Paz e beatificada pela Igreja. Contemplando da década de 1940 aos anos 1980, o filme mostra como a religiosa católica enfrentou uma doença respiratória incurável, o machismo, a indiferença de políticos e até mesmo os dogmas da Igreja para dedicar sua vida ao cuidado dos miseráveis – personificados na figura do fictício João (Amaurih Oliveira) –, deixando um legado que perdura até hoje.
