Cinco dançarinas trabalham num clube de striptease localizado no vale de San Fernando, chamado Blue Iguana. Nenhuma delas leva uma vida fácil ou confortável. Angel (Daryl Hannah) quer adotar uma criança, ou até mesmo gerar uma, mas sua existência confusa e disfuncional torna esse sonho impossível. Joe (Jennifer Tilly) está grávida mas deseja fazer um aborto, e mal consegue controlar sua raiva do mundo. Jasmine (Sandra Oh) escreve belos poemas nas horas vagas, mas não tem a auto-confiança necessária para levar esse trabalho adiante. Jesse (Charlotte Ayanna) procura sua alma gêmea, mas na verdade é seguidamente espancada pelo namorado. E Stormy (Sheila Kelley) tenta esquecer o grande amor de sua vida: seu irmão.
