Antioch. Há 3 anos Marian Jordan foi assassinada, sendo que os criminosos nunca foram encontrados. Isto fez com que o pastor Travis Jordan (Martin Donovan), seu marido, perdesse a fé em Deus. Subitamente milagres acontecem na pequena cidade. Michael Elliot (Noah Segan), o filho de uma veterinária, Morgan Elliot (Kelly Lynch), que recentemente chegou em Antioch, poderia ter morrido em um acidente de carro, mas não teve um arranhão. Coisas milagrosas como um paralítico andar, um tumor regredir e até mesmo o cão de Morgan, que fora ent, aparecer vivo. Em todos estes eventos três desconhecidos usando roupas pretas são vistos e Brandon Nichols (Edward Furlong) sugere que ele possa ser Jesus Cristo. Os moradores de Antioch acharam que estes fatos eram um sinal divino e passam a venerar Nichols como um profeta, sem pensar que nem todo milagre é uma benção. Entretanto Travis e Morgan acham tudo muito estranho e resolvem investigar o que está ocorrendo na cidade.
