Pocahontas não é um personagem da imaginação. Ela foi real e uma das mais importantes personagem da história americana, atuando como intermediaria na convivência entre índios e brancos e permitindo a instalação de Jamestown, a primeira colônia Britânica na América. Seu pai, Powhatan, era o chefe da nação Indígena. Matoaka era seu nome e Pocahontas seu apelido, que significava Pequena Brincalhona. Segundo relato descrito por John Smith ela teria salvo sua vida, pedindo clemência quando ele foi feito prisioneiro e índios preparavam sua execução. Aqui você conhecera mais detalhes sobre juventude da princesa índia, que amava a natureza e os animais, mas teve que se adaptar quando os colonos chegaram a América.
