Viena, início do século XIX. Um grupo de artistas boêmios vive todo o glamour da capital da música mundial. Entre eles, um jovem tímido se destaca pela extraordinária musicalidade e talento: Franz Schubert. Suas geniais composições são admiradas por todos e a bela Hannerl insiste em ter aulas de piano com ele. Schubert se apaixona pela aluna, para quem compõe uma terna canção de amor.
