A companhia de dança Dance Motive perde seu fundador, gênio criador e diretor artístico, Alex Megrath (Mattew Walker), vítima de um derrame cerebral. Sem ninguém para substituí-lo, isto pode significar o fim da companhia. Alex deixou um grande legado para o mundo da dança, incluindo uma famosa coreografia criada há sete anos, mas jamais encenada. A companhia vê a chance de se manter unida estreando a obra. No entanto, para que isso aconteça, eles precisam chamar os três bailarinos originais; Travis McPhearson (Patrick Swayze), Chrissa Lindh (Lisa Niemi) e Max Delgado (George De La Peña), que haviam abandonado o grupo. Os três decidem se unir, lutando contra o tempo e relacionamentos mal resolvidos, para assumir a coreografia que havia encerrado suas carreiras de forma traumática. Acabam descobrindo que, antes de enfrentar a dança, terão que confrontar a verdade dentro de cada um.
