Após uma longa investigação, o assassino de aluguel Jesse Weiland é preso pelo detetive Bud Carter. Com medo de enfrentar a prisão, o criminoso aceita ser um informante da polícia, em troca de proteção. Mas quando começa a delatar a rede mafiosa, revelando a existência de uma lista com os próximos alvos dos assassinos, os chefes do crime tentam descobrir o quanto antes a fonte destas informações. Quando o nome de Weiland é descoberto, ele e Carter passam a correr sério risco de morte.
