Masaya, do primeiro ano, é um bebê chorão, e apesar de já ser crescido, ele não consegue andar sozinho no escuro caminho para a escola. A pessoa que está sempre ao seu lado é Akiyo, uma pequena, mas capaz aluna segunda série. Masaya quer ser forte como Akiyo e a admira, mas um dia, acontece algo que deixa Akiyo em lágrimas. Para levantar o ânimo de Akiyo, Masaya vai até a distante floresta Ipponsugi para encontrar as campânulas que a Akiyo tanto ama.
