Extremamente obesa, analfabeta e tímida, sofre preconceito e agressão dos colegas, e a assistente social decide enviá-la para uma escola especial, para jovens com o ensino atrasado. A professora da nova escola descobre que Preciosa sequer sabe ler, e ao se interessar pela vida da garota e seus problemas vai descobrir que a vida que ela tem em casa é ainda pior.
