Em decadência financeira, Bob, um velho gângster viciado em jogos decide roubar um cassino em Deauville, mas a polícia fica sabendo de seus planos. Em Paris, Bob Montagne é praticamente sinônimo de jogo - e vencedor. Ele é gentil, elegante e querido por praticamente todos na cidade, incluindo o inspetor de polícia Ledru. No entanto, quando a sorte de Bob azeda, ele começa a perder amigos e faz a mais desesperada aposta de sua vida: roubar o cassino de Deauville durante o fim de semana do Grande Prêmio, quando os cofres estão cheios.
