Em 1936 o mascate árabe Benjamin Abrahão consegue filmar o famoso bando de Virgolino Ferreira da Silva, o "Lampião". As imagens, antes perdidas, se misturam às entrevistas com alguns cangaceiros que sobreviveram ao período. De outro lado, depoimentos do Cel. Rufino matador confesso de 20 cangaceiros e do cabo Leonício Pereira que cortava as cabeças dos cangaceiros "para que fossem tiradas fotografias". Sob uma ótica médica o diretor do Museu de Antropologia da Bahia tenta explicar a predisposição criminal dos cangaceiros a partir de características físicas de seus integrantes.
