Inspirado em uma história real, Eric "Hoovey" Elliott (Cody Linley) é um promissor jogador de basquete que leva uma vida normal ao lado dos seus pais e irmã. Certo dia, ele desmaia em um treino e é levado para o hospital, onde os médicos descobrem um tumor maligno do tamanho de uma laranja na base da sua cabeça. Ariscando a vida, o jovem faz a cirurgia de remoção. Além de precisar aprender mais uma vez a fazer coisas básicas, ele precisa manter sua família unida.
