Jonathan Corliss é um estudante ambicioso, que vê no casamento com a filha de um milionário a chance de subir na vida. No entanto, no dia em que ela engravida, os planos de Jonathan correm perigo, porque isso prejudicaria a sua imagem diante dos pais dela. Ele decide assassinar a namorada, fazendo com que o caso se pareça com um suicídio. Em seguida, ele pretende se aproximar de sua irmã, seduzindo-a e mantendo as chances de integrar a rica família.
